1996 Women's Lacrosse vs. 2012 Men's Lacrosse
The 1996 Blue and Gold women’s lacrosse team is the only squad in school history that advanced to the NCAA Final Four. Goucher defeated Mary Washington 18-12 in the Capital Athletic Conference Championship Game fueled by six goals, eight ground balls and five draw controls by Courtney Cragni while Kristin Carey found the twine five times and dished out two assists. Crystal Butcher turned away 14 shots. Crangi went off for 10 goals and six assists, 10 ground balls and six draw controls in an 28-16 win against Roanoke in the NCAA Tournament opening round. Carey and Michelle Mohlman each added six scores while Butcher had 12 stops. The Gophers 14-game winning streak was stopped in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals by Middlebury, 21-12. Carey had four goals and Butcher turned away 18 shots. Carey, Cragni, Mohlman and Butcher were all named to the all-conference first team while Meredith Brown, Kim Donoghue, Sherri Malloy and Nicole Marconi nabbed second-team honors. Crangi had a then NCAA Division III-record 99 goals along with 55 assists for 154 points while Carey added 77 goals and 26 assists for 103 points. Butcher made 188 saves and had a 60.1 save percentage on the year.

The 2012 men’s lacrosse season was the most successful season in program history that resulted in an 18-2 overall record and 6-0 in the Landmark Conference. Zach Fratella and Rory Averett both registered hat tricks, Matt Lynch posted two tallies and two assists and Kyle Boncaro added a goal and three assists in a 10-7 win against Drew in the Landmark Championship Game. Connor Mishaw, who had 15 saves against Drew, turned away 15 shots and Averett scored four times to help the Blue and Gold to its first NCAA Tournament win with a 5-4 decision against Washington. Lynch and Sam Woodruff dished out two assists in the victory. Boncaro registered a hat trick in a 12-4 loss against Salisbury in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Averrett, Boncaro, Lynch, Mishaw and Paul Taylor were selected to the all-conference first team and Bryce Carson was named to the second team. Averett and Boncaro combined for 110 goals and 44 assists on the year, and Mishaw had 199 saves and a 5.58 goals against average.
