Gophers Are Defeated by Riverhawks in Final Regular Season Game
SELINSGROVE, PA- The Goucher College Gophers (9-9; 4-5 conference) lost to the Susquehanna University Riverhawks (12-7; 8-1 conference) on Wednesday night. The Gophers lost to the Riverhawks 3-0 in their final regular season game.
Susquehanna opened up their offense with their first shot in the game coming three minutes in. The Riverhawks followed up their first shot with another one coming four seconds later. Susquehanna scored their first goal of the game at the 7:55 mark. The Riverhawks ended the first quarter with another shot taken in the last six seconds.
In a three minute and 30 second time span, the Riverhawks took five shots. Susquehanna had another cluster of shots to end the quarter. One of the Riverhawks shots it the post and another was saved by Katie Bloom. To end the first half, the Riverhawks took 13 shots compared to Goucher's zero. K. Bloom tallied four saves versus the Riverhawks zero.
K. Bloom recorded two back-to-back saves off of two shots from the Riverhawks. Susquehanna had another set of back-to-back shots seven minutes into the second half. K. Bloom tallied another save off of another Susquehanna shot ten seconds later. The Riverhawks found another opportunity for back-to-back shots which was followed by another Susquehanna goal (39:05).
The Riverhawks did not let up to start the fourth quarter. Susquehanna took another shot 39 seconds into the fourth quarter. Less than two minutes later, the Riverhawks scored their final goal of the game. The next shot from Susquehanna was not attempted until there were only seven minutes left in the game. K. Bloom added another save off of Susquehanna's shot. The Riverhawks took another shot at the 55:32 mark. Madison Zubo took the first shot of the game for the Gophers with three minutes left to go in the fourth quarter. Her shot was followed by a shot from Laureen Otieno. At the end of the second half, The Riverhawks took 14 shots compared to Goucher's two. K. Bloom racked up seven saves versus Susquehanna's zero.
The Riverhawks outshot the Gophers, 27-2. K. Bloom recorded 11 saves versus Susquehanna's zero. Susquehanna took 36 penalty corners to Goucher's five.
This game wrapped up the regular season for Goucher. Goucher will return in the Fall of 2026 for another season.
