Goucher Men's Lacrosse Hits The Road At Scranton On Saturday

  • Goucher College dropped its Landmark Conference men's lacrosse home opener against Elizabethtown College on Saturday.
  • Rashaan Evans posted two goals for the Gophers while Mason Gorman and Zephan Harnish also found the twine in the loss.
  • Evans scored the first Goucher goal of the game off an assist from Jared Heath with 4:39 left in the first quarter and then posted his second tally of the day unassisted with 21 seconds left in the fourth quarter.
  • Gorman got the scoring started in the second quarter off a feed from Eric Bowden at the 11:19 mark.
  • Harnish also found the twine in the second quarter unassisted with 3:03 on the clock.
  • The Royals come into the game 6-6 on the year after finishing 10-7 last season.
  • Scranton is 1-4 at home this season. The team went 6-1 at home in 2018.
  • In their last game, the Royals defeated Morrisville State 12-10 on Monday.
  • Michael Elefonte leads the team with 28 goals and 15 assists for 43 points. Gordon Paul fuels the defense with 31 ground balls and 13 caused turnovers. Shayne Falloon has 98 saves, a 12.22 goals against average and a .505 save percentage.
  • Scranton is coached by Michael Hofmeister, who is in his second season with Scranton.
  • Raashan Evans has scored two goals in a game in back-to-back games and has twinkled the twine in five-straight matches. The freshman has posted two or more goals three times this season and has 11 goals and four assists for 15 points on the year. 
  • Mason Gorman has scored in consecutive games and in three games this season. The senior has four goals and three assists on the year and 42 goals and 22 assists for 64 points in his career. 
  • Zephan Harnish has scored in all nine games this season and has recorded five contests with multiple goals and four games with a single tally. The senior leads the team with 21 goals and ranks second on the squad with 28 points. He has 63 goals and 23 assists for 86 points in his career. 
  • Jared Heath's helper was the fifth of the season and he also has eight tallies for 13 points while Eric Bowden registered his first feeder of the year and second of his career.
  • Goucher has posted two three-game losing streaks this season, but the first time it lost three in a row the squad came back to win the next four games.
  • Goucher travels to Catholic on April 10.
  • Game time is 4 p.m.
