Negreann Places First in 5000, Finishes as Runner-Up in 3000

SELINSGROVE, Pa. — Goucher's Doug Falk (Barnegat, N.J./Barnegat Twp.) tied a school record he established in December 2010 as a freshman while placing first in today's high jump competition at Susquehanna's Orange & Maroon Classic.

Falk cleared 6'2".

Goucher also produced the first-place performer in another event as Joey Negreann (Denver, Colo./Cherry Creek) was the first runner to cross the finish line in the 5,000-meter run. His winning time of 15:42.00, which represents the fourth-fastest in that event in the history of the school's men's indoor track and field program, provided him with a more than 35-second victory over Susquehanna's Paul Crowe.

Andrew Southworth (Durham, N.H./Oyster River) placed fifth in the 5K (16:58.81).

Negreann also competed in the 3,000 meters and finished as runner-up to Mansfield's Jake Shedden. Negreann's time of 9:13.16 is the second-fastest for an indoor 3K in program history.

Will Evans III (Baltimore, Md./Overlea) took third place in the 200-meter dash as he was clocked at :23.64. Joel Brandis (Portland, Ore./Grant) placed fifth in the long jump (19'6").

Goucher's entry consisting of Zachary Byrum (Stafford, Va./Brooke Point), Evans, Falk and Manuel Carranza (Silver Spring, Md./Wheaton) wound up in second place in the 4 x 200-meter relay, setting a new school record with its time of 1:38.08.
