Goucher Swimming And Diving Announces 2019-20 Slate

2019-20 Schedule

BALTIMORE, Md. – Head coach Tom Till has announced his 2019-20 Goucher College swimming and diving schedule. The schedule is highlighted by three home meets that will be streamed on the Goucher Sports Network.

"We start our preseason and training about three weeks out from our first competition," said Till. " We have two halves to a season. Our first half we are looking to build up our aerobic training and then specialize into training groups (sprint/mid-distance/distance). We get an idea of our strokes to focus and hone our training groups."

The Gophers start the season on the road for the eighth-straight season when the team heads to Marymount for a meet with Marymount and Gallaudet on Oct. 19. Goucher faced Gallaudet last year while it will be the first meeting with Marymount since the 2015-16 season.

The team will spend its next two weekends in Pennsylvania against mainly conference opponents. The Gophers will travel to Elizabethtown on Oct. 26 to face their conference foe along with Immaculata. It will be the first time Immaculata has been on the schedule since joining the Landmark Conference. Wrapping up its three-weekend road trip to start the season will be a meet at Scranton with Juniata to start the month of November on Nov. 2.

Goucher will make its 2019-20 home debut against longtime conference rival Catholic on Nov. 16 before finishing out the 2019 year at home against Salisbury on Nov. 23. It will be the first competition against Salisbury since 2012-13.

The squad is then off until mid-January from competitions, but will take a training trip to Puerto Rico at the start of the New Year.

"The second half gets the team back from the shortened winter break and into training and meets," said Till. "This means they can really focus and get closer as a team. The training trip to Puerto Rico- Ponce, has been a great location for our team to train and we are fortunate to have this trip with other colleges and universities. We not only specialize their training but their stroke specialty (Free/Back/Breast/Fly/IM). We are more "race specific" and this is where the hard work gets us ready for the Landmark Conference Championships."

After its training trip, Goucher will hold its final home meet against Susquehanna on Jan. 17 before wrapping up the regular season at Drew on Jan. 25.

The Landmark Conference Swimming & Diving Championships will be held at the Germantown Aquatic Center in Boyds, Md., on Feb. 14-16.
