Gophers Record Seven Firsts at Juniata
HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Goucher College swim teams took Juniata College Saturday afternoon at Binder Natatorium. The Eagles swept the meet, with the women winning 157-96 and the men prevailing 160-69.
The Goucher women took home four first place finishes. For the second straight week, first year Kaitlyn Firth placed first twice, winning the 100 meter butterfly in a time of 1:14.62 and the 100 freestyle in a time of 1:05.84. Kan Jarvis was first in the 50 backstroke with a 37.14-second swim, while Ella Robinson was first in the 100 breaststroke, checking in at 1:24.04.
Robinson also took second in the 50 breaststroke (39.33). Avery McEachern placed second in the 50 freestyle (30.95), while Firth was second in the 400 free (5:12.98). Max McCoy was second in the women's 50 butterfly (34.04). Jarvis registered a second place swim in the 100 IM (1:19.60).
First year Joshua Contreras finished first in two events for the men. Contreras swam a time of 1:05.32 to take first in the 100 butterfly, while also taking first in the 100 IM with a time of 1:12.49. Ben Graff placed first in the 800 freestyle with a time of 10:44.56.
Aiden Grimm was second in the 50 backstroke with a 32.92-second effort and the 100 freestyle (1:06.20). James Piland was second in the 50 breaststroke (36.07) and the 50 free (27.70). Graff was second in the 400 free (4:57.40).
Goucher hosts its home opener on Friday, October 25 at 5 pm, hosting Elizabethtown and Immaculata at the von Borries Aquatic Center.
