YORK, Pa. – Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore./South Medford) sits in 10th place to lead the Goucher College women's golf team to a seventh-place standing after the inaugural round of the Spartans Invitational on Saturday.
Starchvick posted a 42 on the front nine and a 40 on the back nine to register a two-round score of 82 to rank 10th, six strokes behind the current leader. Her round was highlighted by a birdie on the 14 hole and six pars on the afternoon.
Christina Pevey (Post, Texas/Post) (17th place, 87), Daniella Pena (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery) (31st place, 97), Kiana Haskins (Waitsfield, Vt./Harwood Union) (37th place, 102) and Lauren O'Leary (Potomac, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) (43rd place, 106) rounded out the Gophers team at the competition. Pena posted two birdies on the day on the sixth and 10th hole.
York leads the two-day event with a score of 318, 20 strokes ahead of Marymount (338) while Gettysburg (344), Alvernia (351) and York "B" (367) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. Goucher sits in seventh place with a total of 370.
The Gophers return to action on Sunday in the final round of the Spartans Invitational.
