YORK, Pa. – Emmie Starchvick (Jacksonville, Ore./South Medford) finish 16th to lead the Goucher College women's golf team to a seventh-place standing at the inaugural Spartans Invitational on Sunday.
Starchvich posted an 82 in the first round and an 92 in the second round to register a two-round score of 174 to finish in 16th place, 21 strokes behind the medalist. Starchvick posted a birdie on the 17th hole.
Christina Pevey (Post, Texas/Post) (20th place, 180), Danielle Pena (Montgomery, Texas/Montgomery) (30th place, 190), Kianna Haskins (Waitsfield, Vt./Harwood Union) (36th place, 201) and Lauren O'Leary (Potomac, Md./Academy of the Holy Cross) (45th place, 213) rounded out the Gophers competitors.
York College won its own invitational with a two-round score of 643, 25 strokes ahead of Gettysburg College (668) while Marymount University (675), Alvernia University (696) and Shenandoah College (733) rounded out the Top-5 teams in the field. Goucher posted a 370 in the first round and a 375 in the second round for a two-round score of 745 to finish in seventh place.
The Gophers return to action when they host the Goucher Spring Invitational starting on Sunday.
