ALLENTOWN, PA - The Goucher College Gophers (1-1 overall) traveled to face the Falcons of Cedar Crest College (1-1 overall) in the first road game of the 2026 campaign. A dominant performance offensively sealed the 20-5 win for Goucher.
The Gophers opened up the game with a goal from Emma Nelson, assisted by Wrenn Harney just over a minute into the contest. After winning the draw control, Nelson found the back of the net again just over a minute later, this time assisted by Imani Ward. The Gophers continued to pour on the offense by Camden West scoring less than a minute after the draw. Kennedy Harper was called to action following a caused turnover for the Falcons. However, the Gophers used the momentum from the save to clear, when Tatiana Emeruwa found Ward to give them an early 4-0 advantage (7:41). The Falcons closed out the first quarter scoring with just over a minute left to bring the score 4-1 going into the second.
The game remained scoreless for the first five minutes, following multiple saves from Harper, but Cedar Crest was finally able to break through with 9:31 on the clock. A won draw control for the Gophers led to a goal for Bailey Freeman, recording her first goal at Goucher. The Gophers continued the offensive pressure with a goal for Emeruwa, assisted by Harney, 30 seconds later. The contest remained neutral for almost seven minutes, when Amaya Locke saw her first goal of the season at the 1:37 mark, but the Falcons countered instantly, charging down the field to score a goal 12 seconds later. Goucher closed out the half with a man-up goal from Katie Bloom, assisted by Locke. The Gophers led 8-3 at the end of the half.
Bloom carried her momentum into the second, adding another goal two minutes in. Nelson won the draw control and then teamed up with Harney to add the Gophers tenth goal. Nelson capitalized on a turnover to finish her fourth of the game, but the Falcons responded seconds later after winning the draw control to bring the score to 13-5 with 5:09 left in the third. A non-releasable penalty on Cedar Crest gave Bloom and West man-up goals 30 seconds apart from each other. Locke added her second of the season a minute-and-a-half later, and West rounded out the scoring of the quarter with a goal at the 43-second mark.
The Gophers remained on the offensive for the final quarter, where Bloom and Harney teamed up for the first of the quarter (11:01). Flores Bermudez added her third of the season minutes later to bring the Gophers total to 19. The final goal of the game was scored by Locke following a timeout from Goucher.
