Firth and Jarvis Lead Gophers in Season Opener Against Hood, Stevenson
FREDERICK, MD – The Goucher women's swim team opened the season at Hood College in a tri-meet, where they faced Stevenson and Hood. The Gophers came up short against Hood, 134-65, while being outpaced by Stevenson, 199-42.
Kaitlyn Firth and Kan Jarvis delivered Goucher's first podium finishes of the day in the 100 Yard Butterfly, taking first and second. Firth touched the wall at 1:06.97, while Jarvis finished just under a second later.
Firth went on to add two more first-place victories in the 50 Yard Butterfly and the 100 Yard Individual Medley (1:08.95). In the 50 Yard Butterfly, Jarvis followed closely behind, claiming third in 30.94.
In the 100 Yard Breaststroke, Alana Moore, secured a fifth-place finish with a time of 1:31.93.
The Goucher men's and women's swim teams return to action on Thursday, October 17th, for their home opener against Juniata College. This meet is set for 3pm in the von Borries Aquatic Center.
