Firth Wins Landmark Conference Weekly Award
BALTIMORE, MD - The Landmark Conference announced its weekly award winners, and Goucher College women's swimming sophomore, Kaitlyn Firth, earned Athlete of the Week honors.
Firth has been a key part of the team's success the past two seasons. She was previously awarded Athlete of the Week last season.
In the meet against Moravian, Firth secured three first-place finishes, accounting for almost half of the Gophers' points in the 94-60 loss. Firth marked the first, first-place finish of the meet in the 50 Yard Freestyle, with her time of 28.41. Shortly after, she added a first-place finish in the 200 Yard IM, with a time of 2:30.55, beating her opponent by over 12 seconds. Finally, in the 100 Yard Butterfly, Firth finished with a time of 1:08.21.
The sophomores' recognition marks one of the first conference honors for Goucher Swimming this year as the Gophers continue their season, competing in their final meet before Conference Championships versus Gallaudet and McDaniel on Saturday, Jan. 24th, set to begin at 1pm.
