Goucher Produces Three Champions in Singles Play
TOWSON, Md. — A Goucher player advanced to the finals in all four singles flights at this weekend's Goucher Open and three of the four were crowned champions today.

TOWSON, Md. — A Goucher player advanced to the finals in all four singles flights at this weekend's Goucher Open and three of the four were crowned champions today.
Meaghan Lee (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) reached the championship match in Flight II by downing Rakia Otoo from Cedar Crest 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals and Eileen Barker from Messiah 6-2, 6-4 in the semifinals. In the finals, Lee turned back Brittany Hodge from Moravian 6-3, 6-4.
In Flight III, Alex Walsh (Greens Farm, Conn./Staples) opened with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Chelsea Barnett from McDaniel and then pinned a 6-0, 6-0 setback on Courtnie Lambert from Moravian to earn a spot in the finals against Jordan Crawley from Rutgers-Camden. Walsh defeated Crawley 6-3, 6-2.
Addie Maxwell (Southwest Harbor, Maine/Mount Desert Island) emerged from Flight IV as the champion as she topped Celia Hernandex from Moravian 6-3, 6-2 in the finals. She took care of Dwynedd-Mercy's Chelsea Jones 6-3, 6-2 in the quarterfinals and Rutgers-Camden's Avery Forte 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals.
Maxwell is 6-0 in singles play in 2012-13.
The only loss a Goucher player suffered either day in singles competition was by Ariel Lin (Long Valley, N.J./West Morris Central) in the Flight I finals. After beating Messiah's Jennifer Kitlan 6-2, 6-4 in the quarterfinals and Rutgers-Camden's Amanda Hickman 6-4, 6-3 in the semifinals, she bowed in the championship match to Rachel Fein from Gwynedd-Mercy 6-3, 6-4.
Goucher's Kelsey Turner (Philadelphia, Pa./Germantown Friends) and Kirsten Cianci (Bolton, Conn./Bolton) finished as the runners-up in Flight I of the doubles comptition by going 2-1. In the finals, they fell to Melissa Follett and Olivia Sonnabend from Moravian 6-2, 6-2.
There were only four doubles teams entered in Flight II and Emily Ruff (Easton, Md./Easton) and Alyssa Zick (Stewartstown, Pa./Kennard-Dale) from Goucher were declared champions based on the 3-0 record they achieved in a round-robin format.
