Gophers Earn Points in Three Relays, Wind Up in Eighth Place
CARLISLE, Pa. — Goucher took first place in the 4 x 1600-meter relay and second in the distance medley relay at the DuCharme Invitational today.
Goucher's entry in the 4 x 1600 consisted of Taylor Burr (Addison, Maine/Maranacook Community), Hadley Couraud (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing), Katelynn Zidanic (York, Pa./Central York) and Kathryn Walker (Plymouth Meeting, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh), and the unit's winning time of 23:38.06 is a new indoor school record.
Couraud, Zidanic and Burr were joined in the distance medley relay by Caitlin Biggers (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y./Lakeland). With a time of 13:58.92, Goucher's entry in the event was runner-up to Lebanon Valley.
The Gophers scored points in a third relay event: Kate Clarke (Hendersonville, Tenn./Pope John Paul II), Dana Macaluso (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington), Biggers and Jaclyn Kellon (Cleveland Heights, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel) posted a time of 4:34.21 in the 4 x 400, good for fourth place.
In individual events, Kellon placed second in the 400-meter dash with her time of 1:03.14 and Macaluso cleared 15-feet 0.75-inches in the long jump for fourth place.
With a team score of 36 points, Goucher wound up in eighth place in a field of 20 scoring teams.
