Men's Soccer 2023 Season Opens September 1
TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College men's soccer team opens up its 2023 season on Friday, September 1 when it travels to Cairn University. The Gophers, coming off a 10-win 2022 campaign, have a total of 18 games slated this season.
After opening the season against the Highlanders, the Gophers have five straight home games slated for Beldon Field. Goucher hosts Notre Dame (Md.) for the Gators' inaugural men's soccer contest on Sunday, September 3, then welcome Hood two days later. The Gophers will also host Allegheny (September 9), Neumann (September 10) and Wilson (September 13) to close out the homestand.
After a road game at Immaculata and a home contest against Bryn Athyn on Tuesday, September 19, Goucher opens play in the new-look Landmark Conference at Lycoming College on Saturday, September 23. Lycoming and Wilkes University have joined the Landmark for 2023-24, making the conference schedule nine games, up from seven. The Warriors reached the MAC Freedom title game last season in their final season in that league.
Goucher's home opener and September finale is set for the following Saturday, September 30, against Juniata. October consists of almost entirely Landmark competition, with home games against Moravian (October 3), Scranton (October 7) and Elizabethtown (October 21). The Gophers' lone non-conference test comes on Tuesday, October 24 as Goucher takes the short trip to McDaniel. The regular season wraps up October 28 at Wilkes.
With the Landmark expansion, the tournament field expands to six teams. First round action is set for Tuesday, October 31, with the semifinals set for November 2 and the championship match November 4.
Goucher finished 10-4-6 last season, qualified for the Landmark Conference Championship and also made the program's first ECAC Tournament appearance.
