IMMACULATA, PA - The Goucher College Gophers (3-1-2 overall) traveled to face the Immaculata University Mighty Macs (1-4 overall). A late goal, led to the Gophers earning a 1-0 win.
The first shot of the contest came from Immaculata, just over six and a half minutes into the competition. The first shot from Goucher came from Jonathan Adima just over 12 minutes into the half. Despite the back and forth of the first half, the first save did not come until the 20:28 off a shot from Tiem Kiuy. The Gophers led with shots 10-7, with Ale Sternini collecting three shots.
The Gophers offense remained strong going into the second half. Adima added two more shots in the first seven minutes, with AJ Landy and Andres Aristimuno adding to the attack. The persistent attack did not let up, with Immaculata's goalkeeper collecting eight saves in the second half alone. It was not until the 83:07 mark when first year, Bryan Machado, broke the scoreless drought, giving the Gophers the win with teheonly goal of the competition.
The Gophers outshot the Mighty Macs 25-9, with Sternini collecting five saves in the 90 minutes, while Immaculata's keeper collected 14 saves in the competition. Goucher led Immaculata in corner kicks 7-3.
Goucher travels to McDaniel on Tuesday, September 16th for a 4pm kickoff. They return home on September 20th, for a 2pm kickoff against Widener.
