Green Terror Denies Gophers First Win

WESTMINSTER, MD – First year Gabrielle Umstead (Chadds Ford, PA) netted two goals in a 13-4 loss to McDaniel on the road Thursday evening.
Senior Claire Lippay (Jenkintown, PA) led Goucher with a game-high five caused turnovers. First year Lucy Keyser (Pennsburg, PA) notched three caused turnovers to accompany her two ground balls. Fellow freshman, Allie Clay (Baltimore, MD) led the team with four draw controls.
Junior Bridget Den Boer (Sparta, NJ) played the entire game between the pipes for the Gophers, saving 10 shots on goal and collecting a team-high six groundballs.
Annemarie Duerr led the Green Terror with a hat trick and four groundballs. Emily Brownawell dished out three assists, nabbed one groundball and one caused turnover.
Time was split in net for McDaniel, with Elizbeth Collyer taking a majority of the minutes, making one save.
How It Happened:
- Goucher fell behind 4-0 in the opening 15 minutes of the game before Umstead broke the Green Terrors' streak with a goal for the Gophers.
- Goucher scored another goal with 1:28 left in the half, bringing the game to 6-2 at the intermission.
- McDaniel netted a man-up goal to open the second half, but Goucher answered back with a man-up goal of its own, to keep the deficit at four.
- The Green Terror increased their lead to 9-3 over the next six minutes before Grosso scored the Gophers' final goal of the game.
- McDaniel continued to score down the stretch, and the game ended, 13-4.
- The Gophers held a 10-9 advantage in draw controls and scored 3-of-5 free position opportunities.
