Gophers Split Final Meet of Regular Season, Earning First Win
WESTMINSTER, MD - The Goucher College women's swim team earned its first win of the season after splitting the tri-meet against the Green Terror of McDaniel and the Bison of Gallaudet University. While the team fell to McDaniel, 56-37, they secured the victory over Gallaudet, 52-36.
The first points for the Gophers came from Kan Jarvis, who finished first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle with her time of 12:57.90. Jarvis added two more first-place finishes in the competition, in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:16.77), and the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:10.43.
Kaitlyn Firth added a first-place finish in the 400 Yard IM, touching the wall almost eight seconds ahead of the next finisher. The 100 Yard Freestyle (1:00.56) and the 500 Yard Freestyle (6:10.41) marked first-place finishes for Firth as well.
Senior, Alana Moore, finished second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:25.38), and added a third-place finish in the 50 Yard Freestyle, which added points to the Gophers total. Harper Sutton finished 23 seconds ahead of her competitor in the 100 Yard Backstroke to earn third.
This marks the conclusion of the regular season for Goucher swimming. They will compete in the Landmark Conference Championships, beginning on Feb. 12th, at the Mangione Aquatic Center on the campus of Loyola University.
