MADISON, N.J. - The Goucher College women's volleyball team was downed by Drew University 3-0 in a Landmark Conference match before Marywood University topped the Gophers 3-1 in a non-conference contest Saturday afternoon at Baldwin Gymnasium.
- Set scores were 25-19, 25-8, 25-17.
- Goucher (0-16, 0-4 Landmark) led 7-4 in the first set before Drew (6-13, 1-1) scored four straight to take an 8-7 lead.
- Down by as many as four, the Gophers pulled within one (18-17) before the Rangers rattled off three straight points.
- The guests led 13-12 in the third after a Dakota Hawkins kill before Drew scored four of the next five points.
- A block by Lucille Hendricks and Maria Basantes made it 16-15 for the Rangers before the hosts closed on a 9-2 run.
- Imani Ward totaled six kills, while Basantes had five.
- Athena Savick (13) and Hendricks (11) each finished with double-digit digs.
- Hendricks notched four block assists, while Emma Taylor recorded 18 assists.
- Set scores against the Pacers (4-13) were 25-21, 25-22, 23-25, 25-23.
- In the first set Goucher led by as many as five points and led 21-18 when Marywood closed the set on a 7-0 run.
- Goucher trailed 23-18 in the second before three straight points capped by a Liv DeBiasio service ace made it 23-21.
- In the third, the Gophers trailed 23-22 but forced another set with back-to-back kills by Alex Dzhygit and Basantes and a DeBiasio service ace.
- The Gophers led 21-20 in the fourth following a Taylor kill before Marywood scored three of the next four to go up 23-22.
- After a Pacer service error tied the set 23-23, Marywood scored the next two points to close out the match.
- DeBiasio notched nine kills and 13 digs to go along with her two service aces.
- Basantes racked up eight kills and 19 digs, with Hendricks adding seven kills and four blocks (one solo).
- Taylor registered 22 assists and 12 digs, with Athena Savick posting 24 digs.
- Hawkins put down four solo blocks and six blocks total.
- Madi Kraemer recorded four service aces.
- Goucher is back in action Tuesday evening, traveling to Catholic for a 7 pm Landmark Conference match.
- The Gophers are back home Friday, October 25, hosting Susquehanna at 6 pm at the Decker Sports and Recreation Center.
