Goucher Comes Up Short Against Drew On Senior Day

TOWSON, Md. - The Goucher College Gophers (8-8 Overall; 2-6 Conference) hosted the Drew University Rangers (9-6 Overall; 5-3 Conference) in their final home match of the season. Despite the back-and-forth game, the Gophers fell 11-13 after a fourth quarter rally from the Rangers.
- After a penalty from the face off, Drew began the scoring on a man-up goal just 18 seoncds in.
- The only other goal of the 1-1 quarter came from Gianni Karam who scored his first goal of the game with 5:05 left on the clock.
- Less than two minutes in, Karam added his next goal of the game off an assist from Jacob Morgan.
- Drew responded right away to even the game at two.
- At 10:14 on the clock, Karam scored his third of the game, from a breakaway pass from DJ Barnes.
- Two minutes later Drew tied the game once more.
- Tyler May finished a pass from Morgan with 7:57 remaining in the half.
- Drew finished two goals in a minute to give them the lead for the first time since they lead 1-0.
- With 37 seconds left, May puts his second goal of the game into the net from a Milan Temple assist.
- The Rangers finish the final goal of the half with 18 seconds to lead 6-5.
- Drew began the scoring seconds into the half, after winning the face off.
- At 12:38, Karam adds to his total of the night off an assist from Jack Schiavone, before the Rangers respond less than two minutes later.
- Scott Tayman breaks the games scoreless drought at 5:30 off an unassisted goal.
- Drew scores their 9th of the game with just over a minute left, but Karam and Temple team up to score the final goal of the quarter to bring the Gophers within one.
- The Rangers score the first two goals of the quarter to give them a three goal lead.
- Kevin Gearhart scores off an assist from Morgan with 10:55 remaining in the quarter.
- Drew scores two more, to give them their largest lead of the game.
- Karam and Tayman team up to ginished the Gophers 10th of the game (6:00).
- Morgan scores the final goal of the game with just under five minutes remaining.
- The Rangers outshot the Gophers 51-36, while also collecting more ground balls (37-20).
- Goucher was led by Karam with six goals, followed by Morgan who had four points (1g, 3a)
- The Gophers went 4-27 on the faceoff, with David Vucci going 2-10, Schiavone going 1-8, and Nick Pusey going 1-9.
- Sophomore goalkeeper Jack Smith collected 15 saves and two ground balls in his 60 minutes in net.
- The Gophers had three members, Sean Nolan, Schiavone, and Barnes with two caused turnovers in the contest. Schiavone and Barnes each led the team with four ground balls as well.
- The Gophers travel to face Lycoming on Saturday, April 26th for their final game of the season, set to begin at 1pm.
