Strong First Half Leads Gophers to Conference Victory Over Juniata

HUNTINGDON, Pa. - The Goucher College Gophers (8-6 Overall; 3-3 Conference) end their road trip with a convincing 17-4 win over the Juniata College Eagles (3-11 Overall; 0-6 Conference).
- Senior Tyler May began the scoring for the Gophers just under three minutes into the game.
- Juniata adds one to the board before May follows up shortly after with his second goal of the game at 10:02.
- Defenseman Sean Nolan tied his season record with his fifth goal of the season at the 6:13 mark.
- Jacob Morgan gave the Gophers the 4-1 lead before assisting Gianni Karam less than a minute later.
- The Eagles added their second of the contest with 2:26 remaining.
- Off the faceoff, Karam scored the final goal of the quarter off a Kevin Gearhart pass to give the Gophers a 6-2 lead.
- Karam and Morgan team up twice early in the second to build in the lead for the Gophers.
- May added two unassisted goals, one at 12:52 and the other at 4:00.
- Half way through the second, Milan Temple added his first of the contest from a pass from Karam.
- Karam added two more in the quarter from Nick Pusey and James Dean.
- Juniata added two to their score throughout the quarter to bring the score to 13-4 at half.
- The third quarter was scoreless despite the 17 shots between both teams and the 11 turnovers.
- Temple added two within 40 seconds, with one coming off a pass from Scott Tayman.
- Morgan finished an unassisted shot at the 6:56 mark.
- With 4:36 left in the fourth quarter, Karam scored the final goal of the game to give the Gophers a 13 foal lead.
- The Gophers outshot the Eagles 56-41, with their highest total coming in the first quarter with 19.
- Jack Smith finished the first half with four goals against and six saves. Josh Steinmiller finished the second half of the game, with no goals against and 10 saves.
- The Eagles won more faceoffs going 15-25, with David Vucci going 9-23, and Ginigeme Anyaoha went 1-2.
- Three different Gophers, Nick Gambone, Jack Schiavone, and Pusey, led the team with three caused turnovers. Pusey also le the team with seven ground balls.
- The men return home to face Susquehanna on Wednesday, April 16th at 4pm.
- On Saturday, April 19th the Gophers will celebrate their seniors in their final home game of the season.
